Points of Interest: Dudley
Tucked away in the West Midlands, Dudley is a town that is rich in history and heritage. With its roots harking back to the origin of the industrial revolution, the area is home to many carefully maintained heritage sites that offer fascinating glimpses into the booming iron, coal and limestone industries that brought such growth to the country.
Fortunately, there’s just as much going on in the modern day! Dudley is loved by residents and visitors alike, with substantial redevelopments having taken place throughout the town. Now locals and tourists alike can enjoy access to a full-blown theatre in addition to the mandatory shopping centres and other entertainment venues that are part of any place worth seeing.
History in a beautiful setting; undoubtedly one of the main attractions the area offers. Unique indeed to Dudley is its Black Country living museum – one of the largest in the UK. This immaculately maintained venue boasts an interactive glimpse of the industrial heritage of the town, with children able to take part in an Edwardian school lesson while adults can immerse themselves in street games, rides and old-time fairground attractions.
As always in the UK, an escape to nature is well served in the form of several country parks and stunning venues such as Himley Hall and the Dudley Zoological Gardens and castle. Located in beautiful hillside rich in ancient history, the combination of history and rare and exotic animals has made the area a firm favourite amongst local tourists and residents.
What more is there to love? We’re very happy to now be a part of Dudley’s great range of businesses and its wider community. Truly an example of a great town in a wonderful location – worth visiting more than just once, if you ask us!
