Points of Interest: Sheffield
This famous city is located in the eastern foothills of the Pennines and is a metropolitan borough of South Yorkshire. With a significant population of over one and a half million, the area is famous for an exceptional educational environment thanks in no small part to Sheffield University, as well as a diverse and far-reaching history and heritage.
The range of arts and design related viewing and learning in Sheffield is staggering. Top of many lists of things to do in the area is the Millennium Gallery, a premier destination for artistic interpretation and history relating to the steel and metalwork that made Sheffield the significant part of the country that it is today. Boasting some of the very best local and touring exhibitions in the entire country, the Gallery is a sure visit for any passer-by or resident.
Heritage continues to offer diversity in the Sheffield region where family activities and trips are concerned, with popular destinations such as the Manor Lodge and Alpaca-filled Holly Hagg giving the chance for a memorable and novel time outdoors. The Botanical Gardens, arguably a crowning jewel in an already diverse crown, offer spectacular walks in an immaculately and lovingly maintained locale.
The ‘Steel City’ that is Sheffield has come a long way, then, since its expansion due to metalworks and production in the 19th century. Modern times have seen the wide-ranging redevelopment of the area, resulting in the influx of many residents and businesses who all feed into the local economy. A great place to be, and one we are just moving into with our brand-new Branch opening.
